辈子 (bèi zi) Lifetime
The first word is 辈子 (bèi zi) which means ‘lifetime’. A way of using it in a sentence is 我只想一辈子和你在一起。(Wǒ zhǐ xiǎng yībèizi hé nǐ zài yīqǐ) I just want to be with you forever.
长辈 (zhǎng bèi) One's elders
Another word we can create with 辈 (bèi) is 长辈 (zhǎng bèi). This means one’s elders. A way of using it in a sentence is 我们应该尊敬长辈。(Wǒmen yīnggāi zūnjìng zhǎngbèi.) We should respect our elders.
后辈 (hòu bèi) Younger generation
The opposite of 长辈 (zhǎng bèi) is 后辈 (hòu bèi) which means ‘younger generation’. The 后 here means ‘after’. A way of using it in a sentence is Just like what we sometimes think of the older generation, 后辈们会认为我们是一群无聊的人。 (Hòubèimen huì rènwéi wǒmen shì yīqún wúliáo de rén.) The younger generation will think that we are a boring bunch of people.
