世界 (shì jiè) World
The first word is 世界 (shì jiè) which means ‘world’. A way of using it in a sentence is 这世界真小。 (Zhè shìjiè zhēn xiǎo.) This world is so small. Use this when you coincidently bump into someone that you don’t usually see.
世纪 (shì jì) Generation
Another word we can create with 世 (shì) is 世纪 (shì jì). This means generation. I have a question for you: 这个世纪的人和上个世纪的人最大的区别是什么?(Zhège shìjì de rén hé shàng gè shìjì de rén zuìdà de qūbié shì shénme?) 去世 (qù shì) To pass away
Finally, we can create the word 去世 (qù shì) which means to pass away. The 去 here means to go. A way of using it in a sentence is 女王伊丽莎白一世于1603年去世。(Nǚwáng yīlìshābái yīshì yú yīliù líng sān nián qùshì.) Queen Elizabeth, I passed away in 1603.
