The first word is 同意 (tóng yì) which means ‘to agree’. Let’s look at each character of this word, 同 means ‘same’ and 意 means ‘meaning’. When someone asks whether you agree or disagree with something, you can either say 我同意。(Wǒ tóngyì.) ‘I agree.’ or ‘I disagree’, 我不同意。(Wǒ bù tóngyì.).
同感 (tóng gǎn) To empathize
Another word we can create with 同 (tóng) is 同感 (tóng gǎn). This means ‘to empathize’. Let’s again look at each character of this word, 同 means ‘same’ and 感 means ‘feeling’. A sentence we can create from this is 我知道你感到愤怒,我也有同感。(Wǒ zhīdào nǐ gǎndào fènnù, wǒ yěyǒu tónggǎn.)
同时 (tóng shí) At the same time
Finally, we can create the word 同时 (tóng shí) which means ‘at the same time’. The 时 here means time. A way of using it in a sentence is 他们同时到了北京。(Tāmen tóngshí dàole běijīng.) They arrived in Beijing at the same time.
