受害者 (shòu hài zhě) Victim

The first word is 受害者 (shòu hài zhě) which means ‘victim’. Let’s look at each character of this word, 受 means ‘to receive’, 害 means ‘harm’ and 者 means ‘person’. A way of using it in a sentence is: 谁会是下一个受害者？(Shéi huì shì xià yīgè shòuhài zhě?) Who will be the next victim?

接受 (jiē shòu) To accept

Another word we can create with 受 (shòu) is 接受 (jiē shòu). This means ‘to accept’. A way of using it in a sentence is 我知道他会接受的。(Wǒ zhīdào tā huì jiēshòu de.) I knew he would accept.

难受 (nán shòu) To feel bad

Finally we can create the word 难受 (nán shòu) which means ‘to feel bad’. The 难 here means ‘difficult’. A way of using it in a sentence is 情人节当个单身狗好难受啊。 (Qíngrén jié dāng gè dānshēn gǒu hǎo nánshòu a.) It sucks being single on Valentine’s day.
