Today’s word of the day is 绝 (jué) which means ‘to cut’ or ‘to sever’. Let’s practice by making different words, phrases, and sentences with 绝 (jué).
绝对 (jué duì) Absolutely
The first word is 绝对 (jué duì) which means ‘absolutely’. A way of using it in a sentence is when someone is trying to blame you for something you didn’t do, you can say 绝对不是我。 (Juéduì bú shì wǒ.) It definitely isn’t me.
拒绝 (jù jué) To reject
Another word we can create with 绝 (jué) is 拒绝 (jù jué). This means ‘to reject’. A way of using it in a sentence is 她拒绝了我的表白。(Tā jùjuéle wǒ de biǎobái.) She rejected my love confession.
绝情 (jué qíng) Heartless
Finally, we can create the word 绝情 (jué qíng) which means ‘heartless’. The 情 here means affection. A way of using it in a sentence is 你不要这么绝情。(Nǐ bú yào zhème juéqíng.) You don’t have to be this heartless. You may hear this phrase a lot in dramas.
