The first word is 差距 (chā jù) which means ‘gap’. A way of using it in a sentence is 现在穷人和富人的差距越来越大了。(Xiànzài qióngrén hé fù rén de chājù yuè lái yuè dàle.) The gap between the poor and the rich is widening.
差异 (chā yì) Discrepancy
Another word we can create with 差 (chā) is 差异 (chā yì). This means ‘discrepancy’. A way of using it in a sentence is 我们的成绩差异太大了。(Wǒmen de chéngjī chāyì tài dale.) The discrepancy between our grades is too significant.
时差 (shí chā) Jet lag
Finally, we can create the word 时差 (shí chā) which means ‘jet lag’. The 时 here means ‘time’, so literally ‘time difference’. A way of using it in a sentence is 出国旅游遇到时差怎么办？(Chūguó lǚyóu yù dào shíchā zěnme bàn?) What should you do when you encounter jet lag while traveling abroad?
